Peak Pilates® Mat Certification

The Peak Pilates® Mat Program consists of a progressive and systematic three part series:

Basic Mat Course This 16-hour course teaches the foundations of Pilates with an examination on how to execute the exercises, as well as an introduction to teaching the classical form of Pilates in a very clear and concise manner. This course also introduces the Peak Pilates 5 Part Formula for Success – a powerful tool to help you develop your full potential as a Pilates instructor.

Intermediate Mat Course The second part of the Mat program is an intensive course adding breadth and depth to Basic Mat. New vocabulary and exercises will be introduced as well as a deeper examination into the underlying principles behind exercise order and progression. Key concepts will be presented that will facilitate teaching and understanding of the classical work. We will expand our knowledge of effective touch techniques, imagery cues and how to enhance movement quality. General dos and don’ts and contraindications for all exercises will be covered as well as strategies for class set-up, cueing, correcting and touch.

Advanced Mat Course The final course of the Mat program builds upon the Pilates foundation established in Basic and Intermediate Mat. You will learn how to layer advanced exercises into the Mat exercise order. We will focus on how to break down and advance the exercises to suit your students’ needs as well as refining touch techniques, teaching methodology, imagery, progression and special populations. We will also teach you how to train your eye to see subtle alignment issues, deepen your understanding of the relationship between the exercises and design a progressive Mat course for a fitness facility or studio.

Conferences Peak Pilates participates in a number of educational conferences annually to offer a wide variety of workshop sessions which provide continuing education credits (CECs). Topics may include: teaching skills, group class choreography and working with special populations—just to name a few. These conferences offer a convenient way to earn a substantial number of approved Peak continuing education credit in a short amount of time.
